Hope International University - New Campus

Hope International University new campus master plan was awarded as a result of the work being done for the Lifelong Learning District at Heritage Fields and at the recommendation of LNR Properties. The current university is located next to California State University – Fullerton. With the Cal State Fullerton expanding the campus, Hope was looking for a new location with growth potential in the future. The new campus master plan evaluated the feasibility of a site at Heritage Fields, which including two different development strategies.

Both strategies included new classroom buildings, administrative buildings, gymnasium, student center, main quad, playfield, aquatic center, and tennis courts. For student housing however, the first strategy explored the adaptive reuse of existing barracks while the second created new dormitories. In each plan, the chapel sat a jewel building within the main quad. A central promenade serves as the main pedestrian path through the campus and links to surface parking lots. Future development pads were treated as orchards and open space in the initial phase until the university needs to expand.
